Do you have an older sailboat 20+ years old or older? Do you like to compete to see how well you sail against others? Then the Turkey Shoot Regatta might be something to consider for this fall. Racing Regatta for Classic Sailboats

Do you have a monohull sailboat that is 20 years old or older? Then you can be eligible to participate in the fun Turkey Shoot Regatta. The 2017 Turkey Shoot will be held September 29 to October 1st (Friday, Sat, and Sunday) up on the Rappahannock River, at Carter’s Creek. Shoreside events will be held at Rappahannock Yachts in Irvington. This is a really fun event and raises money for a good cause–local area Hospice services.

Leukemia Cup Regatta

The Leukemia Cup Regatta is coming up the weekend of July 12-14. Stingray Point Marina and Stingray Harbor Yacht Club will once again host the social events for this event, which raises money for a worthy cause. Fishing Bay Yacht Club runs the races and there is still time to sign up to race. If you are interested in racing your boat, or just attending the Crabcake Dinner Friday Night or the Gala Dinner Saturday night, you can register here. http://www.leukemiacup.org/va/

Gary Jobson at Stingray Point Marina

Gary Jobson at Stingray Point MarinaWinning America’s Cup Sailor, commentator and all around sailing ambassador Gary Jobson entertained an enthusiastic crowd at Stingray Point Marina during Friday night’s Leukemia Cup Regatta party. Gary told stories from his sailing career as well as the latest happenings with the upcoming America’s Cup Regatta. Attendees had the opportunity to meet Gary, and get signed copies of his latest book. A good time was had by all, and there was a wonderful seafood spread from JW Seafood. On Saturday and Sunday sailors from around the Bay, including some from Stingray Point Marina competed in the sweltering heat.  Photos courtesy of Stephen Boling and Jon Deutch.

Leukemia Cup Regatta

Leukemia Cup Regatta, VirginiaStingray Point Marina will once again be the host of the Southern Chesapeake, Leukemia Cup Regatta, July 6-8, 2012. The Stingray Harbor Yacht Club and Fishing Bay Yacht Clubs will be sponsoring the event again this year. For racers, cruisers, experts and novices! Join in the fun and the fundraising as we set sail for the cure! Racing on Saturday and Sunday plus these social activities…

Friday
Skipper check-in and a Meet & Mingle with Gary Jobson from 5:30-7:30pm ($25pp) followed by Jobson Tales at 8:00pm. Sailors who raise over $1,000 are invited to a VIP Reception with Jobson from 5:30-6:00pm.
Saturday
Gala from 5:00-11:00pm with a BBQ dinner,  cash bar, live and silent auctions, live music by Premiere, and recognition of sponsors, top fundraisers and sailors.
Sunday
Post-race activities and awards!

Racing classes will be offered for: PHRF Spinnaker, Non Spinnaker, J105, Leukemia (Cruising) and Classic yachts designed 1976 and earlier.

Our Southern Bay Leukemia Cup Regatta was rated one of the top ten fund raising events in the county for 2011 and the number one regatta for the Southern Bay. This year we are encouraging all cruisers to join the race and hope to have 100 boats in the cruising class. Registrations are still ongoing at www.leukemiacup.org/va . Need crew or want to crew? Check the bulletin / chalkboards at Stingray Point Marina. For those with visiting friends, Stingray Point Marina has offered free dockage for fundraising boats on a first come, first serve basis. If you are not able to participate in the race, at least come to the party. Famous sailor and author, Gary Jobson, will be at the cocktail reception on Friday, July 6 and tickets are only $25.00. There will be a Gala with food and beverages on Saturday, July 7, as well as charity benefiting auctions. The race continues through Sunday and promises to be a lot of fun for everyone and supports a great cause.
